Our Philosophy

Mission Statement

The Tarago Preschool believes that the following four values provides a foundation for our Preschool.

By following and believing in these four values we feel that we have an environment that supports continual quality improvement

Approved learning framework The National Early Years Learning Framework supports our curriculum decision making reflecting on our practices and improvements.

We refer to the Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics and the UNICEF Rights of the Child.

Being

 Child Safe Environment A commitment to Child Safe Standards

All children and young people have a right to feel safe and be safe. Tarago Preschool is committed to embedding a culture where the safety, wellbeing, and participation of all children is paramount.

 

 We are always committed to acting in the best interests of children and ensuring Tarago preschool is a safe place to be where children's voices and concerns are herd and acted upon. 

 

We are committed to being an organisation that recognises and promotes children’s rights and empowers them to exercise them.

 

We have zero tolerance of child abuse and misconduct, and all allegations and safety concerns are acted upon.

Our preschool values, recognises and supports diversity, inclusion, and equality.

 

We are committed to the implementation and ongoing improvements and motoring of the child safe standards.

Our Staff and committee members are aware of their duty of care and responsibilities to the children and always act in the best interest of the children in our care.

 

Our Child Safe Statement of Commitment applies to all employees, volunteers, students, Committee members.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures

 • To build relationships with traditional elders and custodians of country.

• To embed traditional Indigenous perspectives into learning.

• Acknowledgment of Country is embedded into our preschool environment.

• Learning about Indigenous art telling the story of land through stories.

Wellbeing

• To acknowledge that wellbeing is the foundation of feeling safe and loved.

• To embed wellbeing in the form of slowing down and becoming aware of our emotions and how we are feeling and how this affects everyone around us.

• To build resilience to deal with change and build confidence in self and others.

Program/Sustainability

• Children having input into their learning environment.

• To have an environment that is aesthetically pleasing, homely, warm, and relaxing.

• To provide learning spaces that are interesting, inviting and that stimulate a wonder for learning and discovery.

• To provide a literacy rich environment through books, pictures, and language.

Continuous improvement

• Be prepared for change and strive for continuous learning and improving quality in the seven quality areas

• Management systems in place to ensure safety is always upheld through imbedding child safe standards, policies and procedures, audits, code of conduct, UNICEF conventions of the Right of the Child and Mandatory Reporting.

• Staff, Management, Families and Children have input into the Quality Improvement Plan/Self-Assessment Plan.

Staff pledge

We pledge to establish a warm supportive, responsive, and stable environment for all children that attend the Tarago Preschool where the children feel both Welcome and Safe And to provide learning opportunities that extend from the child’s discoveries.
