Our Story

Tarago Preschool started life as a playgroup in May 1972, meeting each week in the Country Women's Association rooms. The playgroup grew and grew and in August 1975 the Tarago Preschool Committee formed, to plan, manage and raise funds for a new, dedicated preschool.

Tarago Preschool formally opened its doors to students in April 1976. As demand increased a new building was erected in 1983, which has had many extensions and improvements over the years to both the internal fixtures and playground. This has been due to intensive fundraising as well as community support from local businesses and government.

Over the years the Tarago Preschool has seen great change. Even though the number of students attending and days open have fluctuated greatly, it has remained an integral part of the Tarago community.
